This blog is about my attitudes to life and money and in particular the different methods I use to make money and save money – in a way that’s compatible with the kind of life I want to lead.
I started looking seriously at alternative ways of boosting my income and making savings when I had my son and ditched my previous career because the sacrifices in quality of life were not, for me, worth the financial reward. I work to live, not the other way around, and I’ve been able to find many ways to improve my finances, largely from home, allowing for treats and extras and helping to smooth over tougher times.
I want to do more. Even in a job with a much better work-life balance than usual, doing the standard 9 to 5 in an office (plus 2 hours of commuting) day after day, week in, week out is grinding and depressing to me. I’d love to be able to drop to part-time hours, and I’m currently getting serious on goals like saving for a house deposit.
I love books, music, theatre, history, clothes (especially from charity shops), sci-fi & fantasy and exploring new places.
